Position: Electrical Test Technician III - Lighting
Job summary and objective: This position is responsible for the accurate and timely testing of lighting products: lamps and luminaires, reporting data, and writing technical reports. Support Technical staff by providing timely and accurate test results and information
Roles and responsibilities:
Knowledge of how to access the latest revisions of standards, protocols, and test methods.
Evaluate products submitted for testing for quality and safety issues.
Prepares a variety of samples for testing using prescribed testing methods, following testing standards and specifications.
Conducts testing or analyzes a variety of consumer products for basic bench analysis and limited analytical instrumentation using prescribed testing methods, following testing standards and specifications appropriate to the sample.
Use and verify test equipment and instruments, and maintain record keeping system for calibration and quality system integrity.
Maintain test equipment, supplies, lab cleanliness and limited analytical instrumentation.
Accurately record test data per the company's quality guidelines.
Organizes and manages workload to meet or exceed laboratory turn around time and client expectations.
Assist in the technical and administrative aspects of various departmental projects.
Accurately compile data, prepare and review written technical reports.
Interface with senior staff for direction on interpretations pertaining to compliance and standards.
Adhere to the requirements of the company's Quality System.
Provide feedback to department manager regarding departmental systems, processes and recommendations for improvements and meeting department and quality objectives.
Follow the guidelines set forth in the Safety and Chemical Hygiene plan.
Consult with other technicians and engineers on various issues.
Write, train, implement and update lab procedures.
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
Must possess the ability to use various test equipment ie: Oscilloscopes, DMMs, Power Meters, and Thermocouple testers.
Exceptional electronic system, board and component testing and troubleshooting ability is required.
Exceptional soldering ability is required.
Possess and demonstrate written and verbal communication skills, problem solving and process improvement abilities.
Organizational and time management skills.
Ability to perform multiple tasks and prioritize workload to meet or exceed deadlines.
Individual and team work ethics and the ability to interface with multiple groups in the organization.
Strong computer skills: Windows, Word and Excel.
Attention to detail, technical aptitude and overall positive and optimistic attitude.
Experience and educational requirements:
2 year Electrical degree is required.
2 - 4 years related work experience is required.
